New EDL Schedule Begins!
Emergency Distance Learning returns after Spring Break on Monday, April 6th so our students can continue to access and engage in learning during this time of COVID-19.
Bell Schedule
We have created a new bell schedule for when we return from Spring Break. Here is a link that brings you to a copy of the schedule. Our guide for this was focused on three guiding lights: 1. We want kids to connect and engage; 2. We want kids to have a sense of normalcy and routine; 3. We want to keep things as simple as possible to ensure manageability and sustainability.
**Here is a helpful video tutorial for how students can make a copy of our new schedule and tailor it to their own needs. Please make sure your children review this!
EDL Expectations
The Charger Way - At Home: Resources for Parent and Student is an incredible guide that gives academic, social-emotional, and behavioral tools and expectations, while also providing help in the areas of organization and executive functioning. This is a Sierra Vista-specific guide, and we hope that you and your student can review this together.
In regards to the delivery of instruction, our teachers have three main platforms in which they are using: Google Classroom, Canvas, and email Hyperdocs. In an effort to help provide clarity, I am including this link so you have the name of each certificated staff member, his/her email address, and his/her chosen platform.
EDL and Grading
During EDL, teachers will provide feedback to students so they can monitor their progress. Students who are disengaged or who are not demonstrating sufficient progress in working toward passing marks will receive Progress Reports later this spring. Our goal is to ensure kids engage in the content, stay connected, and are held accountable for the learning.
Counseling and Library Resource Pages
Schoolwide supports like our counseling and library services can be invaluable during EDL. To learn more about all they can offer and set yourself up to be able to access their Google Classrooms, please see below:

Food Distribution
IUSD is committed to helping all our families in need. Although Nutrition Services will not be available during the break, IUSD has connected with our community partner Families Forward, which offers a drive thru food pantry (M-F) 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. with non-perishable items each week.
Upon our return on April 6th, IUSD’s Nutrition Services will provide free breakfasts and lunches to any IUSD student who needs them on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 11 AM - 1 PM at Cadence Park, Culverdale, Cypress Village, Northwood Elementary, Oak Creek, Southlake Middle, University Park, and Venado Middle.
Technology Access
Some students may find they need access to technology during this time, while others may find that they need access to the internet. Students still in need of devices should submit a request via our Technology Access Form. Additionally, our Support Center has information on free and low-cost internet options for families. If these options will not work, or if a family needs additional support, please complete the Technology Access Form.
If students are having access issues to teacher instruction, please contact HelpDesk@iusd.org. Please note: these would NOT be issues linked directly to a device or the internet. These are issues that are tied directly to a student's ability to access the EDL instruction and our three main platforms of instruction.
Questions
Should kids or families have questions, most of our staff will be available on email after Spring Break, Monday through Friday between 8 AM – 3 PM. Please feel free to reach out to them if you have any questions.
