Traffic/Parking Lot Safety Reminders
*Please discuss these important safety reminders with your students if they walk or ride their bike to/from school.* For their safety and the safety of others, students need to follow all traffic safety laws when traveling to and from school. This is especially important for students crossing major intersections (ex: Palo Lado/Irvine Blvd, Westwood/Bryan).
- Reminders for students WALKING to/from school:
- Wait at traffic signals (do NOT cross when time has run out)
- Use crosswalks and cross completely (do NOT cut through the intersection diagonally)
- Stay on the sidewalk
- Watch for vehicles and try to make eye contact with drivers before crossing the street
- Reminders for students RIDING BIKES/SKATEBOARDS to/from school:
- Wait at traffic signals
- WALK bikes across the crosswalk
- Ride on the right side of the road
- Use crosswalks and cross completely (do NOT cut through the intersection diagonally)
- Watch for other vehicles and try to make eye contact with drivers before crossing the street
- Students MUST wear a helmet
- Electronic Bikes and Scooters
Please help us keep our kids safe by enforcing rules at home in regards to electronic bikes and scooters. There are laws about them--so let's be consistent with them! Irvine Police Department has shared this flyer with us so we all know the ins and outs about them. Many of these devices are illegal and are subject to very steep fines. Students will need to take a course with their parents in order to be able to park these on campus. See this flyer for more information. - Parking Lot Safety
- Please drive SLOWLY while entering, exiting, and driving through our lot and surrounding neighborhood
- Please be vigilant and respectful of other motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians
- Please observe & comply with directional arrows in entrances and aisles
- Please do not stop your car in a through lane
- Please do not park your car in a drop off lane
- Please do not block the bus lane
- Drop off your children at the white curb or near the pedestrian crossing zone in the second aisle
- Consider having your child walk, ride a bike/scooter, or meet at a (slightly) off campus location to decrease congestion in our lot!
- These short videos will help familiarize you with our parking lot procedures and will help ensure the safety of students and the efficiency of movement before and after school. Thank you for watching them.
